An internship with the International Tea Farms Alliance offers a way to take part in the everyday work of a non-profit organization that acts as a bridge between tea farmers and tea lovers worldwide. Based in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan, the alliance was originally started by Kyoto Obubu Tea Plantations with support from the Japan Brand project of Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and it now brings together estates and producers across many production regions, from Japan and China to India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Taiwan, Indonesia, Korea, the United States and Hawaii.

Interns work alongside the alliance as it manages membership, supporter relationships, content and communication about tea cultures, plantations and the wider tea industry, helping with a range of organizational and editorial tasks. Because the alliance is a member-driven, non-profit body rather than a commercial company, the internship emphasizes learning, cultural exchange and first-hand exposure to how tea is grown, processed and traded across borders. Participants gain insight into global tea production regions, farm practices and the everyday administration of an international mission, while contributing to projects that connect growers, estates and enthusiasts.
